Thanks for your help, Johann I haven't found an easy way to update a JFree Chart "live", since the data-structure of jfreechart is very incompatible to my data-structure.
There is a good example here (duplicated below) of adding new points to a line chart. However, I think the effect probably depends on the chart you are using. Despite new functions have been introduced to update the data I still prefer this way because embedded functions won't update the chart with "line Chart Data" directly even if I use "my Line.update()" function.

However, the NGA NM is primarily intended for deep ocean vessels and typically does not carry LNM chart updates that affect waters shallower than 18 feet. and Canadian charts overlap, the Canadian Coast Guard’s Notice to Mariners will sometimes contain unique information not found in the USCG LNM.
